Underage gambling: Buenos Aires City told influencers and celebrities to stop promoting illegal betting sites

(Buenos Aires City).- The government of the City of Buenos Aires intimidated influencers and celebrities who promote illegal online betting platforms through social networks. The measure is part of a package of initiatives promoted by the Head of Government Jorge Macri to face a drama that many Buenos Aires families are going through: childhood gambling.
Through the Buenos Aires Lottery (LOTBA), the Buenos Aires government sent document letters to well-known social media users, actors, and journalists who usually call on their followers to make illegal bets, generally related to soccer matches or other sporting events. . They were ordered to stop these advertisements under warning of initiating legal action for considering them participants in the alleged commission of the crime established in article 301 bis of the National Penal Code.
In said regulations, it is warned that "anyone who exploits, manages, operates or in any way organizes, by himself or through third parties, any modality or system of capturing games of chance without having "the pertinent authorization issued by the competent jurisdictional authority."
