(Macau).- Macau’s casino industry experienced a structural shift in the second quarter of 2026 as mass-market gaming and slot machines outpaced high-roller spending. While the city's overall gross gaming revenue (GGR) remained virtually unchanged year-on-year, fresh data from the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau reveals a minor dip in high-stakes VIP baccarat, countered by explosive double-digit growth in electronic gaming and slot verticals.

Macau Baccarat Revenue Declines Slightly Amid Strong Slot Growth

VIP Segment Slows While Mass Market Anchors Regional Gaming Revenue

According to the latest regulatory figures, Macau’s high-roller table baccarat segment brought in MOP15.90 billion (US$1.97 billion) during the second quarter of 2026, marking a 2.6% decline compared to the same period in 2025. This downturn slightly reduced VIP baccarat’s total market share of games of fortune to 26.1%, down from 26.7% a year earlier.

The dip in high-tier spending kept Macau’s aggregate Q2 revenue flat, with the city generating just under MOP61.03 billion for the three months ending June 30—a marginal 0.1% decrease year-on-year. However, the broader mass-market sector showed resilience, ticking up 0.8% to nearly MOP45.13 billion. Mass-market baccarat alone remained the undisputed anchor of the local industry, commanding a dominant 57.6% share of the territory’s total gaming revenue.

Electronic Gaming and Slots Post Explosive Double-Digit Gains

While premium table games experienced headwinds, the casino floor's electronic segments enjoyed a highly lucrative quarter. Slot machine revenue led the growth charge, skyrocketing 17.0% year-on-year to reach MOP4.11 billion. This surge effectively boosted the slot segment's overall market share to 6.7% of all games of fortune, a notable increase from the 5.6% recorded during the same period last year.

Complementing this digital momentum, the live multi-game electronic product category also posted positive returns. The vertical saw its second-quarter GGR rise 3.1% year-on-year, finishing the three-month period at just over MOP1.30 billion, further highlighting the ongoing diversification of Macau's gaming floor dynamics.
