Chile: Casino tax collection reached USD 21.3 M in April 2023

(Santiago de Chile).- The collection is distributed in US$ 9.1 million paid by the 19,995 casinos to the communes and regional government in which they are located, US$ 8.9 million in VAT on gambling and US$ 2,512 million in tax on tickets.
After discounting inflation, the 25 gaming casinos that operate in the country registered gross gaming income (win) of US$ 60 million in April 2023, which, in real terms, was 4.6% less than what was obtained. in April 2022
The 22 casinos 19,995[1] contributed a total of US$ 21.3 million in taxes in the month of April, exceeding by 3.6% the taxes contributed in April 2022 in real terms.
The amounts added at the industry level are divided into us$ 9.1 million that correspond to the specific gaming tax, earmarked for regional governments and municipalities to finance development works, in addition to us$ 8.9 million associated with the payment of VAT for the gaming revenue and US$3.1 million corresponding to the gaming hall admission tax, which goes to the nation's general funds.
The regional governments and municipalities receive the funds from the specific gaming tax the month following their payment by the operating companies. Therefore, these resources will be received in July 2023.
It should be taken into account that, since June 2022, the Enjoy Pucón casino has been operating in Pucón, which was not considered in the April 2022 tax contribution. This casino generated approximately $479 million in taxes in the month.
Regarding visits, 604,998 people were registered who entered the 25 casinos in operation, which is equivalent to an increase of 22% compared to April 2022.
