(Denmark).- It may soon be possible to play bingo through walkie-talkies and local radio stations. The Danish Parliament is currently considering a bill to introduce a new licence category for bingo offered via these channels. The Danish Gambling Authority expects the rules to take effect as early as 1 January 2026.

Denmark: New Licence Type Coming Soon: Bingo via Walkie-Talkie and Local Radio

If the bill is adopted, providers of walkie-talkie and local radio bingo will be able to apply for a licence starting 1 January 2026. This article will be updated once the rules are officially enacted.

How to Apply for a Licence

To offer bingo via walkie-talkie or local radio, you must obtain a licence from the Danish Gambling Authority. Applications are expected to open on 1 January 2026.

Use the form “Apply for a Walkie-Talkie or Radio Bingo Licence” (no. 1-02), available on the Revenue-Restricted Licences page.

A digital version of the form will also be published, though it will not be accessible on virk.dk until January.

The Danish Gambling Authority aims to process applications as efficiently as possible.

Applicants will be assigned a dedicated contact person to guide them through the legislation during the application process. This contact person will generally remain the same throughout the validity of the licence.

Reporting After the First Year

Licences for walkie-talkie and radio bingo are regulated under the Gambling Act and the Executive Order on Online Casino. Licensed operators must meet several requirements, including submitting a report after their first year of operation.

The report must be prepared one year after the licence takes effect and submitted to the Danish Gambling Authority no later than 14 months after activation.

Licence holders may complete the report themselves.

The report must demonstrate compliance with the licence conditions and relevant legislation during the first year of activity.

The report template will be available on the Danish Gambling Authority’s website as form no. 1-04.
