iGaming, sports betting revenues: operators report $331, 2M in January

(Detroit).- Michigan commercial and tribal operators reported a combined $331.2 million total internet gaming (iGaming) gross receipts and gross sports betting receipts in January. Gross receipts increased 25.4% compared to December.
Monthly Gross Receipts
January iGaming gross receipts totaled $248.2 million, the highest to date. The previous high was $244.0 million recorded in December 2024. January gross sports betting receipts totaled $83.0 million, which is an increase from the $20.2 million recorded in December.
Monthly Adjusted Gross Receipts
Combined total iGaming and internet sports betting adjusted gross receipts (AGR) for January were $287.9 million, including $233.1 million from iGaming and $54.8 million from internet sports betting — representing an iGaming increase of 6.1% and a sports betting increase of $54.5 million when compared to December 2024. Compared to January 2024 reported revenues, iGaming AGR was up by 42.0% and sports betting was up by $36.0 million.
Monthly Handle
Total internet sports betting handle at $555.2 million was down by 7.1% from the $597.7 million handle recorded in December 2024.
Monthly State Taxes/Payments
The operators reported submitting $46.8 million in taxes and payments to the State of Michigan during January, of which:
- iGaming taxes and fees = $43.7 million
- Internet sports betting taxes and fees = $3.1 million
Monthly City of Detroit Taxes/Payments
The three Detroit casinos reported paying the City of Detroit $12.8 million in wagering taxes and municipal services fees during January, of which:
- iGaming taxes and fees = $11.8 million
- Internet sports betting taxes and fees = $1.0 million
Monthly Tribal Operators’ Payments
Tribal operators reported making $5.0 million in payments to governing bodies in January.

As of January 2025, a total of 15 commercial and tribal operators have been authorized to launch iGaming and/or internet sports betting. Currently, 12 commercial and tribal operators offer internet sports betting, and 15 operators offer iGaming.
