(Massachusetts).- A recent report from the Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC) details economic, public health impacts of MA sports wagering for FY2025.
Massachusetts Gaming Commission outlines the results for Fiscal Year 2025 (FY2025), highlighting the final figures for the third year of sports wagering in the Commonwealth.
Between July 1, 2024, and June 30, 2025, nearly $755 million was generated in gross gaming revenue across 1.83 million active Massachusetts accounts. This activity resulted in $150.7 million in tax revenue for the state, along with $204,400 in intercepts from the Department of Revenue and child support programs.
One of the most notable events of the year was Super Bowl LIX, which saw $12.2 million in gross gaming revenue alone. Massachusetts collected $2.4 million in taxes from the 44.6 million wagers placed on the big game.
Massachusetts remains committed to player health. This year over 1.1 million users utilized play management tools offered by our sports wagering licensees, with 829,700 using play management limits, and 293,400 taking advantage of the ‘cool-off’ program. In total, there were 2.5 million inquiries related to play management tools and player health, reflecting growing awareness and use of these programs.
The sports wagering industry continues to create new job opportunities and support local businesses. More than 1,200 Massachusetts residents joined the sports wagering workforce within the last year, including 380 women and 221 minorities, highlighting ongoing efforts towards diversity and inclusion. Sports wagering operators reportedly spent $190 million with numerous diverse vendors and suppliers, contributing to the economy of the Commonwealth.
