Swedish Gambling Market Sees 5.1% Growth with USD 776.88 Million Turnover

(Strängnäs).- Licensed operators in Sweden generated SEK 7.4 billion during the second quarter of 2026, driven by strong performances in commercial online gambling and land-based casino games. Concurrently, the number of players utilizing the national self-exclusion tool, Spelpaus, experienced a slight decline.

Swedish Gambling Market Sees 5.1% Growth with USD 776.88 Million Turnover

Gambling companies with a Swedish license had a turnover of SEK 7.4 billion during the second quarter of 2026. An increase of 5.1 percent compared to the same quarter in 2025. Gambling companies with a Swedish license had a total turnover of SEK 7.4 billion during the second quarter of 2026. That is an increase of 5.1 percent compared to the corresponding quarter in 2025.

Commercial online gambling and betting had a turnover of just over SEK 4.9 billion, which is an increase of just over 7 percent. Land-based commercial gambling, primarily casino games in restaurants, had a turnover of SEK 73 million, an increase of almost 13 percent.

Turnover refers to the players' stakes minus paid out winnings. The figures are preliminary and may be revised.

At the end of the quarter, just under 138,000 people were suspended via Spelpaus.se. This is a decrease of 0.7 percent compared to the previous quarter.

The Swedish Gambling Authority (Spelinspektionen) continuously collects and analyzes data to monitor the development of the gambling market. Data on turnover for gambling for public utility purposes is collected directly by the Swedish Gambling Authority. For taxable operators, the turnover figures are based on data regarding assessed tax from the Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket).
