(Santiago).- With a high call from the Superintendence of Gaming Casinos, the successful training aimed at the country's municipalities in relation to the requirements for the qualification of gaming machines prior to the granting or renewal of the municipal patent for Games of skill or skill concluded.

More than 290 officials from different municipalities in the country participated in the activity in telematic format, in which the agency reiterated the prohibition of authorizing the commercial exploitation of slot machines, as it is an activity that can only be carried out in casinos. legally constituted, which are regulated and supervised by the Superintendence of the branch.

In this regard, Manuel Zárate Campos, Head of the Legal Division of the SCJ, reiterated to the attendees that "in our country the development of games of chance is, as a general rule, an illegal activity, unless a Law expressly authorizes it, such as the the case of gambling casinos, horse riding, the Lottery, and the Chilean Charity Fund”, he emphasized.

In this way, within the framework of its faculties, the Superintendency is active promoting actions to prevent and combat illegal gambling, highlighting the coordination work with the municipalities, the Investigative Police, the Internal Revenue Service and the Public Ministry, among others. 

One of the objectives of the activity was to guide and deliver the context and scope of the provisions of the Comptroller General of the Republic, through different opinions on this matter, how to clarify defects are the stages to obtain the machine qualification report contained in SCJ Circular No. 83 of 2017, recently modified by Circular No. 140 of this year.

At the end of the training that will be reinforced for 90 minutes, the Prosecutor of the Superintendence reiterated the call to the municipalities to continue working collaboratively to eradicate gambling that takes place outside the law by exploiting gaming machines outside from the facilities of the authorized gaming casinos.

The call made by Zárate emphasized the negative externalities that occur with this type of activity "since they are not subject to any type of control, it brings with it a series of damages for people and for the country, among which we can mention the violation of citizen and consumer rights, the affectation of tax collection, the non-existence of responsible gaming policies, particularly with respect to girls, boys and adolescents; the possible commission of crimes of fraud, contraband and Money Laundering”.
