(London).- The George Wensel Technical Achievement Award has a long lineage of innovative creations, and at the 43rd Annual Sports Emmys, CBS Sports added their name to the list for their deployment of RomoVision.

2022 Sports Emmys: CBS Sports´ Jason Cohen Explains How RomoVision Changes the Way Fans Watch NFL Broadcasts

Working in conjunction with Genius Sports’ Second Spectrum and the NFL’s Next Gen Stats system, these augmented-reality–driven replay segments show 11 X’s and 11 O’s on a virtual field on the left side of the screen as lead analyst Tony Romo breaks down pivotal plays of the game. At first, this AR implementation was used well after initial replays were shown, but as the team became more comfortable with the workflow, turnaround times began to shrink and RomoVision became the first replay on the broadcast.

CBS Sports VP, Remote Technical Operations Jason Cohen breaks down how the team came together to provide these replays immediately after the play and what it means for the network to win this prestigious award.

Other notable names that worked on this project include Alvin Anol, Komal Bhukhanwala, Michael Francis, Elizabeth Graham, Rajiv Maheswaran, Joshua Mendoza, Ross Molloy, Drew Simon, and Craig Stevens.
