(London).- Genius Sports and the A-Leagues have agreed an exclusive data partnership for Australia’s top-flight soccer competitions from the start of their 2022/23 seasons.
The multi-year deal covers rights to official data from all men’s and women’s A-League fixtures, with that content then distributed to Genius’ global network of sportsbook partners.
The agreement also includes a brief for the sports data and technology firm’s integrity services to work on the prevention of corruption in Australian domestic club soccer.
The A-Leagues has also said it will utilise Genius’ optical tracking systems for data gathering across select venues, with further details set to be revealed later in the season.
“Genius are global leaders in data and integrity services and we are delighted to be building this partnership with them,” said Michael Tange, director of strategy and digital for the A-Leagues.
“Data underpins the Australian Professional Leagues’ strategy to make football Australia’s most entertaining sport.”
For Genius, the A-Leagues deal adds to an expansive partnership portfolio that also includes major agreements with the National Football League (NFL) and Premier League.
John Curzon, head of Sportstech Australasia at Genius Sports, added: “Australian football is expanding rapidly with participation, engagement and broadcast numbers all showing exciting growth in recent years.
“We’re thrilled to be partnering with the A-Leagues at this critical stage of its global expansion, connecting Australian football with millions of fans around the world as their exclusive official data partner.”
