(Bogota).- The National Council of Games of Luck and Chance (CNJSA) defined the guidelines for the use of results from foreign draws in chance bets. This seeks to energize the sector by increasing the frequency of drawings, as well as increasing transfers to health.

Chance games may use results from foreign draws to place bets in Colombia

During the first three months of 2024, the game of chance has transferred $76,232 million for health.

Through Agreement 721 of 2024, the National Council of Games of Luck and Chance (CNJSA) defined the guidelines for the use of results from foreign draws in chance bets. This seeks to energize the sector by increasing the frequency of drawings, as well as increasing transfers to health.

The president of Coljuegos, Marco Emilio Hincapié, explained that concessionaires may use results from foreign games as long as it can be verified that said draws have the respective authorization from the competent authority of each country.

“The results of foreign raffles used must belong to raffles that are widely disseminated and that have been transmitted in real time in the country of origin, either through analogous media such as television or digital platforms and social networks.” Hincapié said.

Likewise, the Agreement establishes that chance concessionaires must request the respective code from the National Superintendency of Health that allows them to transmit betting data in real time.

Concessionaires who wish to use results from foreign draws must process authorization before the respective granting entity, that is, before lotteries, Departmental Public Capital Companies or governorates, as appropriate.

“With this new regulation, we hope that the game of chance will increase both its sales and its transfers to health. From the Council we are providing all the guarantees to continue strengthening the industry in the territories,” said Hincapié.

It is worth mentioning that, with this Agreement, it seeks to operationalize the provisions of article 157 of Law 2294 of 2023, known as the National Development Plan “Colombia, power of life”, which establishes the use of results of authorized draws of lotteries and/or foreign games in permanent bets.
