Football resumes in Bolivia while investigation into illegal betting continues

(Bolivia).- The Bolivian Football Federation (FBF), the highest governing body of football in the country, will calculate the resumption of professional football tournaments early this Thursday, although without a defined date.

Football resumes in Bolivia while investigation into illegal betting continues

"It has been decided that both the League and the Cup will continue immediately," the president of the FBF, Fernando Costa, reported at a press conference after a meeting of the Executive Committee.

The top leader of Bolivian soccer argued that with the allegations of corruption and the changes that were implemented, transparency is provided for the development of the competitions.

«We have achieved what we have set out to do by proposing the cancellation of the season, because the National Referees Commission has been renewed. “This is a factor that leads us to now suggest the immediate resumption of the DivPro Championship and Cup,” he assured.

In Bolivia, two tournaments are held in the Professional Football Division, the Professional League and the Cup, with 17 clubs representing the nine departments of the country.

On September 5, the Higher Council of Bolivian Football issued an order to cancel the two tournaments of the Professional Football League and the Simón Bolívar Cup promotion championship to give rise to investigations.

The cases of corruption in Bolivian football were made public on August 29, following a complaint by Costa, who stated that there is a network in the country made up of leaders, former leaders, footballers and referees, who would be behind "bribes" and "fixed matches." »
