Gaming Laboratories International (GLI®) Expands Long-term Relationship with West Virginia, Approved as Test Lab for Sports Betting

“We are extremely pleased that the State of West Virginia has chosen to expand the successful, long-term relationship we have had and place its trust and confidence in GLI to deliver world-class sports wagering testing solutions,” said GLI Director of Client Services Michael Capen. “We are excited to help regulators, operators, and suppliers ensure the integrity of sports wagering in West Virginia by offering our nearly 30 years of extensive global sports/event-wagering experience.

”The West Virginia Lottery will benefit from GLI’s end-to-end knowledge of sports-wagering platforms and operations from around the globe, experience earned from GLI’s position as the first and most experienced independent event-wagering testing and certification laboratory in the world.

Since 1990, GLI has provided the State of West Virginia Gaming and System Testing, Regulatory and Technical Consultation, Forensic Assistance, and On-Site Field Inspection services. Most notably, GLI was at the forefront of introducing Video Lottery Terminals at West Virginia racetracks in 1994, the Limited Video Lottery in 2001, the certification of West Virginia’s Aegis Video Lottery Central System in 2006, the Connexus Video Lottery Central System in 2017, and the current User Acceptance Testing for the West Virginia Aurora Traditional Lottery System. GLI also provides the West Virginia Lottery with a dedicated team of engineers possessing many years of video lottery testing experience.

GLI was the first independent testing lab to certify a sports wagering system built from the ground up in the state of the Nevada and is the most trusted name in the gaming equipment certification industry.

“When a jurisdiction has its equipment and software tested by GLI, those regulators, operators, and suppliers can rest easy knowing the tests and reviews have been conducted by the most sophisticated network of gaming test labs in the world,” said GLI Senior Engineer Manager Joe Carlon, whose team spearheads many complex sports wagering projects. “GLI customers worldwide have come to rely on the unmatched expertise, technology, tools, and capabilities of our staff, and we are able to test for every regulated market in the world that uses ITLs.

”GLI invests considerable resources in its extensive global technical compliance team that is unique in the industry. This group of specialized engineers and policy analysts works with regulators in every jurisdiction in the world to ensure a complete understanding of technical requirements. This team, along with GLI’s legal staff, has been actively engaged with supplier, operator, and regulatory clients for more than a year in preparation for the expansion of sports wagering in the U.S.
