MGC Delivers Testimony During Sports Wagering Public Hearing
⏱ 1 min read
(United States).- Today, Chair Cathy Judd-Stein and Executive Director Karen Wells provided testimony to the Joint Committee on Economic Development and Emerging Technologies during a virtual public hearing regarding sports wagering.
The MGC is grateful for the opportunity to present oral and written comments on proposed sports wagering legislation. In addition to this commentary, MGC staff provided two white papers as a helpful resource to the Legislature and interested stakeholders. The first paper pertains to responsible gaming and the second gives an overview of US policies and practices related to sports wagering.
Should Massachusetts allow sports wagering, the MGC does not presume it will be the regulator but offers comments in the context of being the state agency that implemented casino gaming. The Gaming Act provided an excellent roadmap for implementation and, based upon MGC’s experience, offers insight in certain areas for the Legislature’s consideration.
