(London).- Playtech BGT Sports (PBS), the leading provider of omni‐channel sports betting solutions, has announced record turnover for bets taken at Wimbledon this year.
With PBS’ next generation self‐service betting terminals (SSBTs) continuing to be a dominant force in retail due to their extensive range, convenience and ease‐of‐use, its growth in mobile‐based betting has been the most significant, forming an increasingly key part of the company’s growth strategy.
Tennis throughout Wimbledon saw exceptional turnover growth of over 50% across all PBS channels with more than £9m staked in total during the tournament and mobile leading the way with over 300% growth year‐on‐year.
Proving particularly popular is PBS’ BetTracker app, allowing customers to place their bet in‐shop and then track its progress and even cash out from the comfort of their home.
Available on both Apple and Android, it has been designed to bring the convenience of online to the retail betting experience, allowing customers to scan a ticket to the bespoke app and monitor its progress, whenever and wherever they want. Customers can then return to a shop and receive their winnings in cash.
Playtech BGT Sports’ Senior Commercial Director, Lee Drabwell, said: “While our continued growth in bets taken on our SSBTs come as no surprise, the exponential growth in popularity of our mobile‐ based betting was ace and knocked our forecasts out of the court.
“BetTracker and similar products continue to improve both user experience and operator revenues. By continuing to bring technology that is now routine online into retail estates for the first time, we are seeing greater customer adoption and the benefit of significant increased revenues for our operators”
Playtech BGT Sports has continued to introduce a wide range of new products and innovative features in recent months that boost both customer engagement and revenues for retail operators, particularly around in‐shop in‐play functionality.
This includes the new and very popular quick-fire markets which brings exciting in-play betting opportunities not previously available for the shop customer. Alongside, its much‐anticipated Betrecommender, which uses a state‐of‐the‐art content engine, harnesses artificial intelligence to suggest relevant selections and content by analysing millions of previous popular calculations and comparisons.
