(Santiago de Chile, SoloAzar Exclusive).- Mateo Lenoble, Regional Sales Director for Latin America at Sportradar spoke with SoloAzar about the company's presentation at CGS Latam 2022. He spoke about the success of the event, the expectations for the Chilean market in relation to the gaming sector, and the opportunity in Brazil and Latin America in general.

´We are very happy with CGS Latam and we see great potential in Chile´: Mateo Lenoble, Sportradar

How have you seen this edition of CGS in this market and how did Sportradar participate?

Last year we had to participate online because of the pandemic, so there was much excitement for the return of face-to-face meetings at this year’s conference. This year’s event was particularly special because it’s the first sports betting and igaming event to be held in Chile.

It’s an important territory for us and we follow its developments very closely. The market is in good health with many online operators already active. There are likely to be changes as the country regulates for sports betting in the near future as expected.

The set-up is perfect for us – we’re able to attend the event while studying the marketplace to gain a deeper understanding of its potential.

What is the future of Sportradar in your region for the rest of this year?

We have a busy rest of year planned. We are going to be attending the Peru Gaming Show and the i-gaming Summit in Brazil in June. It’s important for us to be present at these events and show our support for industry colleagues in the region. We like to work closely with the event organisers because they help connect us with customers and market players.

Having last taken place in December 2021, this year’s Peru show returns to its traditional June date. I’m looking forward to seeing colleagues and peers from the industry – it’ll be very interesting.

How do you analyze the current situation of the Brazilian market?

The sports betting market has significantly evolved in recent years. There is strong online participation and the majority of the first division soccer clubs in Brazil are sponsored by betting operators. Sports betting has become common place in Brazil and introducing regulation will put a framework in place for it to grow safely.

I’ve enjoyed being at this event in Chile and its highlighted to me just how much potential there is for operators here, and how important it is in the broader Latin American market. If the event is held here again next year, it could be even better because a year from now we will have more news.
