(Ohio).- Ohio’s sports gaming market has posted its strongest August since legalization, according to the latest figures from the Ohio Casino Control Commission.

Ohio Sports Betting Revenue Hits Record High for August 2025

Sports betting, legalized in January 2023, has consistently generated hundreds of millions in annual revenue for the state. In 2023, Ohio sportsbooks recorded $934.2 million in total revenue, followed by $899.3 million in 2024. So far in 2025, year-to-date revenue has reached nearly $592 million.

For August alone, revenue surged to $72.7 million, surpassing the $48.6 million posted in August 2024 and the $40.7 million recorded in August 2023. This marks the highest August total since sports betting launched in the Buckeye State.

The all-time monthly record remains January 2023, when Ohio sportsbooks brought in an unprecedented $208.5 million during the first month of legalized betting.

Sports gaming revenue in Ohio is taxed at a rate of 20%, with the state collecting significant revenue from both online and retail sportsbooks. The Commission also provides detailed monthly breakdowns covering online revenue, retail revenue, total revenue, and taxable revenue.
