(Costa Rica).- Having been closed since mid-March, casinos in Costa Rica will be allowed to reopen on October 9 following an announcement from the Economy Ministry (MEIC) and the Tourism Board.

Tourism Minister Gustavo Segura said casinos located in hotels will be allowed to reopen bu that guests must pass a temperature screening.
Slots and chips will be sanitized frequently, and alcoholic beverages will not be permitted. Gaming tables will be restricted to three people and slots will need at least six feet between them.
Capacity will be limited to 50 per cent and operating hours will see casinos shut at 10pm during the week and 8pm at the weekend.
Victoria Hernández, Costa Rica’s Minister of Industry and Commerce, said: “We have been developing the protocols and we have set criteria that are a little more restrictive on the way a restaurant operates. We have all been looking forward to the reopening of the economic activities, the continuity of business, the regeneration of jobs.”
