According to figures released February 10, table games and slot machines generated $103.1 million during the month, while retail sports betting contributed $770,319 in QAGR.

January market share distribution was led by MGM Grand Detroit at 49%, followed by MotorCity Casino with 30%, and Hollywood Casino at Greektown with 21%.

Table Games and Slots Show Stable Growth

Revenue from table games and slots increased 0.8% compared with January 2025, although it dipped 0.3% from December 2025 levels. For the period January 1–31, revenue was also up 0.8% year-over-year, signaling steady performance in the city’s core gaming segment.

At the operator level, results compared with January 2025 were as follows:

  • MGM Grand Detroit: up 0.5% to $50.2 million
  • MotorCity Casino: up 1.2% to $31.0 million
  • Hollywood Casino at Greektown: up 0.7% to $21.9 million

The three properties collectively paid $8.4 million in state gaming taxes during January, slightly higher than the $8.3 million remitted in the same month last year. In addition, the casinos submitted $12.3 million in wagering taxes and development agreement payments to the City of Detroit.

Retail Sports Betting Sees Year-over-Year Contraction

Retail sports betting activity presented a contrasting picture. Detroit casinos reported $11.3 million in total retail handle for January, generating $789,669 in gross receipts.

However, QAGR declined 69.5% compared with January 2025 and fell 55.2% from December 2025, indicating substantial volatility in the retail segment.

January QAGR by property was:

  • Hollywood Casino at Greektown: $286,464

Based on retail sports betting activity, operators paid $29,118 in state taxes and remitted $35,589 in wagering taxes to the City of Detroit.

Fantasy Contests Report 2025 Totals

Separately, fantasy contest operators reported $993,921 in adjusted revenues for December 2025, contributing $83,489 in taxes.

For the full year from January 1 through December 31, 2025, fantasy contest operators generated $9.9 million in aggregate adjusted revenues and paid $827,511 in taxes.
