(Macau).- Macau’s gross gaming revenue for 2023 is likely to hit US$22.81 billion (MOP182.86 billion), according to Deutsche Bank’s latest estimate.
The prediction was made on Wednesday by analyst Carlo Santarelli. If compared to pre-pandemic 2019, the expected figure is 38 per cent lower.
The forecast appears to be in line with an August estimate by Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng.
Ho believes that the city has the potential to achieve a range of MOP170 billion to MOP180 billion by the end of the year.
The first ten months of the year has so far generated a total of MOP148.45 billion, latest figures from the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau indicate.
The result is about 60 per cent compared to 2019.
Looking ahead, the bank expects casino revenue for 2024 to reach US$25.88 billion (MOP207.47 billion) – in contrast with the recent government forecast of MOP216 billion.
The bank’s forecast for 2024, if proved to be accurate, would be 29 per cent lower in comparison with 2019.
