In total, local authorities generated some MOP64.6 billion (us$ 8 billion) in revenue between January and June of this year, with the gaming sector has contributed to 90.3 per cent of it.

Meanwhile, the local government has incurred in MOP35.5 billion (us$ 4.4.billion) in expenses, a 5 per cent year-on-year rise, with the amount reaching about 35.8 per cent of public planned expenses for 2019.

The largest amount in expenses was generated by transfers, funding, and subsidies, with some MOP21.8 billion (us$ 2.7 billion) expended.

Still, the Macau government recorded a budget surplus of MOP30.5 billion (us$ 3.7 billion) as of the end of June, about 69 per cent higher than estimated.
Financial services company Morgan Stanley stated on Wednesday that it estimated the real mass market revenue growth in the second quarter of this year would be 11 per cent, instead of the 18.6 per cent presented by the Gaming Inspection and Co-ordination Bureau (DICJ).

The gross gaming revenue of the VIP section in the second quarter of this year was said to be down by 15.6 per cent to MOP34.6 billion (US$4.2 billion) year-on-year, while the mass market’s GGR was up by 18.5 per cent to MOP38.7 billion at the same time, according to the DICJ’s data.

According to the brokerage, the quantum of growth reported by more 18.6 per cent is not accurate due to the reclassification of VIP rooms into premium mass rooms.
