March visitor arrivals rise 76 pct from previous month

(Macau).- The Macau SAR reported a total of 754,541 visitors in March of this year, a 76.7 per cent rise from the previous month, data published today (Thursday) by the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) reveals.
However, the total number of tourist arrivals for the first three months of 2021 still reported a 7.4 per cent decline from the previous quarter to some 1.7 million visits.
While number of overnight visitors (919,192) dropped by 10 per cent quarter-to-quarter between January and March of this year, same-day visitors decreased by 4 per cent.
The average length of stay of visitors went up by 0.2 days quarter-to-quarter to 1.7 days.
Of the 688,353 mainland visitors that entered Macau in March, about 48.5 per cent came from Zhuhai.
Visitor arrivals reached a 15-month high of 34,252 on 16 April, with the coming May 1 holiday period will be a critical test for Macau visitation and gaming.
Daily visitor arrivals to and departures from Macau reached levels between 36,500 to 56,600 per day between April 5 to April 11, up from 30,000 to 40,000 earlier this year and close to the March average of about 49,000 per day.
At the same time, daily gaming revenues have continued a trend of growth in April, reaching MOP128 million between April 1 and 18, a 12 per cent rise whence compared to the March average.
