(Singapore).- Marina Bay Sands (MBS) reported a 10.3% year-on-year decline in second-quarter earnings, posting USD 689 million for the three months ended June 30, 2026. Despite lower casino revenue and softer visitation linked to the FIFA World Cup, parent company Las Vegas Sands (LVS) highlighted the resilience of its premium gaming strategy and strong performance across several non-gaming segments.
Marina Bay Sands Posts Lower Q2 Earnings Despite Solid Gaming Performance
Marina Bay Sands generated USD 689 million in adjusted property EBITDA during the second quarter of 2026, compared with USD 768 million in the same period last year.
Net revenue remained broadly stable at USD 1.38 billion, a slight decline from USD 1.39 billion a year earlier, while the integrated resort posted an EBITDA margin of 49.9%.
Speaking during the company's earnings call, Patrick Dumont, Chairman and CEO of Las Vegas Sands, described the quarter as operationally strong despite external challenges.
"Our results this quarter reinforce our view that Marina Bay Sands' structural earnings power has been elevated following our significant product investments, suite renovations, service enhancements and the successful execution of our premium customer strategy."
World Cup Reduced High-Value Tourism
Casino Revenue Declines While Mass Gaming Grows
According to Dumont, the 2026 FIFA World Cup temporarily diverted many premium international travelers away from Singapore, affecting visitation from two of Marina Bay Sands' core customer markets.
"Many high-value patrons are followers of participating teams or players, which unfortunately just drove a lot of tourism away from our two core markets."
Casino operations remained the property's largest revenue generator, although casino revenue declined 4.1% year over year to USD 1 billion, down from USD 1.1 billion in the second quarter of 2025.
However, the property delivered a positive performance in its mass gaming segment, where revenue increased 5% compared with the same period last year, underscoring continued demand from the broader gaming market.
Dumont also noted that, had Marina Bay Sands achieved its expected rolling chip hold percentage, adjusted EBITDA would have been USD 37 million lower, highlighting the impact of favorable hold performance during the quarter.
Hotel, Retail and Food & Beverage Deliver Growth
Non-Gaming Segments Continue to Expand
While gaming remained the primary revenue source, Marina Bay Sands reported growth across nearly all non-gaming business segments.
Hotel room revenue increased 12.7% year over year to USD 151 million, while food and beverage revenue rose 16.7% to USD 98 million.
Retail mall revenue climbed 8.1% to USD 67 million, while convention, retail and other business activities remained stable at USD 40 million.
The resort's hotel occupancy improved slightly to 95.6%, with the average daily room rate rising 10.6% to USD 982. Revenue per available room (RevPAR) also increased 11.3%, reaching USD 939.
Las Vegas Sands confirmed that the Marina Bay Sands expansion project remains on schedule, with completion targeted for early 2031.
Las Vegas Sands Misses Quarterly Expectations
At the group level, Las Vegas Sands reported weaker financial results as lower VIP hold in Macau and softer visitation related to the FIFA World Cup affected overall performance.
Adjusted property EBITDA for the company declined 16.1% year over year to USD 1.1 billion, while net income fell 28.1% to USD 373 million.
Net income attributable to Las Vegas Sands totaled USD 346 million, down 24.9% compared with the second quarter of 2025.
Meanwhile, group net revenue edged down 0.7% to USD 3.15 billion, reflecting stable overall business activity despite headwinds across key Asian gaming markets.
