Mass market gaming results jump 458pct q-to-q in 2020-end

(Macau).- Mass market casino gaming results including slot machines have jumped by 458 per cent in the last quarter of 2020 when compared to the previous quarter to some MOP14.2 billion (US$1.7 billion).
Mass play represented about 65 per cent of all gross revenue from games of fortune in the city for the last three months of last year, with VIP baccarat accounting for 35 per cent, data published by the Gaming Inspection and Co-ordination Bureau (DICJ) reveals.
VIP baccarat results – which represent most of high-end gambling – increased by 225 per cent quarter-to-quarter to almost MOP21.8 billion.
The improvement coincides with the reinstatement of tourist visas issued by Chinese from September 23.
2020 ended with a total of MOP26.2 billion in VIP baccarat results, an 80.5 per cent fall from the MOP135.2 billion reported in 2019.
Results from the Macau Jockey Club also decreased by 48.6 per cent year-on-year to MOP252 million, but Chinese lottery results actually increased 1.8 per cent to some MOP56 million.
