(National Harbor, MD).- MGM National Harbor officially debuted a $48 million second-level casino space today due to overwhelming customer demand since its December 2016 opening. “It’s a great result when positive customer demand drives a business to expand its offerings,” said Melonie Johnson, President and Chief Operating Officer of MGM National Harbor. “This year, we have set new casino revenue marks. Expanding our gaming offerings will help us meet the desire of our customers for more luxury gaming entertainment space while welcoming new players to the resort as well. Most importantly, we are providing 250 additional jobs and additional tax revenues to Prince George’s County and the State of Maryland.”

MGM National Harbor’s newly completed space includes the following elements:

  • Poker Room – The MGM National Harbor Poker Room has been relocated to the second level, increasing it by seven tables to a total of 46, with seating for 460 players. The space also features a two-table high-limit poker room.

  • The Race Book – The second level now offers a 24-screen off-track betting lounge created in partnership with The Maryland Jockey Club, founded in Annapolis in 1743.

  • Snacks – This fast-casual dining venue, serve a menu of resort favorites from Asian-inspired bowls to pizza, wings and more.

  • Terrace – From the 700-square-foot overlook, visitors can enjoy beautiful views of National Harbor, the Maryland countryside and Virginia shores. By night, it is a prime spot to watch the sun set over the Potomac River and also serves as a public smoking area.

MGM National Harbor is already the largest tax contributor to Prince George’s County, and the largest tax contributor among the six gaming license holders in the state of Maryland. The transition of poker to the second level allows MGM National Harbor to provided even more offerings to the first-floor casino, which has the potential to result in further increases in MGM National Harbor’s overall tax contributions. In 2017, MGM National Harbor contributed more than $170 million to the Education Trust Fund. The resort paid close to $24 million in taxes for the month of May.

The second-level gaming floor is open 24 hours daily and can be accessed via the guest elevators near the Self-Park garage at the west end of the property, or by the escalator located on the casino floor.
