(New York).- New York is increasing its capacity limits on outdoor stadiums, casinos, gyms and offices, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said yesterday.
The capacity limit on outdoor stadiums will go from 20% to 33% and the limit for gyms and fitness centers outside New York City goes from 33% to 50%.
Casinos will be able to operate at 50% capacity, up from 25%, and offices will go from 50% to 75%.
“The arrows are all pointed in the right direction,” Cuomo said during a press conference at the New York State Fairgrounds in Geddes.
Cuomo has been easing numerous Covid-19 restrictions in recent weeks. He has said he is responding to the improving situation in the state as vaccinations have increased and the statewide percentage of people testing postive for Covid has fallen.
Hospitalizations and new cases are also down sharply from their most recent peaks in January, but they remain far higher than they were at their lowest points of the pandemic last summer and in the early fall.
In addition to the capacity limit increases, Cuomo announced today that the New York State Fair will happen in 2021. It will run for 18 days.
