Ohio: casino and racino revenue remains steady in 2024

(Colombus, Ohio). — Ohio’s 11 casinos and racinos reported $207.4 million of gambling revenue in December, $9.2 million more than in November and the highest combined gambling revenue in the state since March.
The same casinos and racinos generated less revenue than they did this time last year, when they reported $212.1 million in revenue for December, according to data from the Ohio Casino Control and Lottery commissions.
Still, Ohio’s gambling establishments generated nearly the same revenue in 2024 as they did in 2023, with a combined revenue of just under $2.4 billion for each year.
The revenue figures are the money the gambling houses keep after paying out winnings but before state taxes and fees are assessed.
The four casinos that can offer slot machines and tabletop games, such as Blackjack, reported $89.1 million in gambling revenue in December, down from $91.7 million in the same month last year.
The state’s seven racinos, the gambling houses at horse racetracks that can only offer slot machines, reported $118.2 million in December, down from $120.4. million in December of last year. The totals reported by the lottery commission do not include wagering on horse races.
In the Greater Cleveland market, December revenue was:
* $26.7 million at MGM Northfield Park, down from $27.1 million in December 2023.
* $16.1 million at JACK Thistledown Racino, down from $16.5 million.
* $23.3 million at JACK Casino Cleveland, down from $24.3 million.
