(New York).- Resorts World New York City has officially begun the next phase of its multi-billion-dollar expansion project, advancing plans to become the largest integrated gaming resort in the United States. The development follows the property's recent transition into New York City's first full-scale Las Vegas-style casino and significantly strengthens its position in the race for the state's newly awarded commercial casino licenses.
Resorts World Advances Its Integrated Gaming Resort Vision
Resorts World New York City, located in Queens near the former Aqueduct Racetrack, has broken ground on the next stage of a US$5 billion integrated gaming resort expansion that will substantially increase its gaming, hospitality and entertainment offerings.
The announcement comes just one day after the property completed a major gaming floor expansion, adding 1,400 new slot machines to its existing operation.
The new development includes:
- A second 400-room Hyatt hotel tower.
- A new Crockfords luxury hotel.
- A 7,000-seat multipurpose arena designed for concerts and live entertainment.
- A central public plaza.
- A new parking facility equipped with thousands of solar panels.
- The accelerated completion of the Kenny "The Jet" Sports and Media Complex, expected to be delivered three years earlier than originally planned.
Once fully completed, Resorts World New York City is expected to offer approximately 2,000 hotel rooms, establishing one of the largest integrated gaming resorts in North America and reinforcing New York's growing position in the commercial casino market.
Expanded Gaming Floor Reinforces the Integrated Resort Strategy
The expansion follows a landmark year for the property after obtaining authorization to operate live table games. Having previously functioned as a video lottery terminal venue since opening in 2011, Resorts World now operates as New York City's first fully integrated commercial casino.
Its gaming floor currently features:
Nearly 4,000 Slot Machines and 240 Live Gaming Tables
The casino now offers almost 4,000 slot machines, including the recently installed 1,400 units, alongside 240 live gaming tables spread across three gaming floors.
Players now have access to a full portfolio of casino classics, including:
- Blackjack
- Baccarat
- Craps
- Roulette
The expanded gaming capacity further strengthens the property's integrated gaming resort model, combining gaming, accommodation, entertainment and hospitality under a single destination.
Genting Holds an Early Lead in New York's Casino Race
Owned and operated by Malaysia's Genting Group, Resorts World enters the next phase of New York's gaming expansion with a significant operational advantage.
Unlike competing license holders that must develop entirely new casino properties, Resorts World already benefits from an established customer base, existing infrastructure and a fully operational casino. This head start allows the operator to continue expanding its integrated gaming resort while rivals remain in the development phase.
Other projects moving forward under New York's commercial casino licensing process include proposals by Steve Cohen and Hard Rock for the Metropolitan Park development near Citi Field in Queens, as well as Bally's planned casino project in the Bronx.
Investment Goes Beyond Gaming
In addition to the US$5 billion expansion, Resorts World has proposed a US$2 billion community benefits package.
The initiative includes plans to support the construction of up to 50,000 workforce housing units across New York City's five boroughs, together with a US$100 million infrastructure improvement program.
The operator also projects the expanded integrated gaming resort will generate approximately US$10.8 billion in state and local tax revenue during its first decade of operation.
According to company estimates, the project is expected to contribute:
Multi-Billion-Dollar Economic Impact for New York
- US$2.5 billion benefiting the Metropolitan Transportation Authority through licensing fees and additional revenue.
- US$2 billion in new state revenue.
- US$2 billion allocated to New York's public education system.
Resorts World also reports that since opening in 2011, the property has already generated more than US$5 billion in funding for New York State's public education programs. With the latest investment, the company expects its integrated gaming resort model to further expand its economic contribution while strengthening New York's position as one of the leading regulated gaming jurisdictions in the United States.
