SJM to take over management of Diamond Casino

(Macau).- SJM Resorts will take over the management of the Diamond Casino at the Holliday Inn Hotel, one of its satellite casinos, after the property’s management faced mounting losses caused by the pandemic, gaming news website Allin Media reported.

According to a letter cited by the report the manager of the casino, Christine Szeto Yuk-lin, stated to employees that the casino had reported no income for 18 months and therefore operations would cease on July 31.

The casino operates under the SJM gaming concession agreement, with the operator taking over the casino’s management afterwards.

The Diamond Casino was said to hold 28 gaming tables and 48 slot machines, plus VIP rooms on the third and fourth floors.

Satellite casinos operate under the licensees of the local gaming concessionaires, with the majority in Macau operating under the SJM license.

According to its annual report, SJM operated about 14 third-party promoted casinos as of the end of last year, which generated some HK$4.8 billion in gross gaming revenue, less 76 per cent year-on-year. and reporting some HK$226 million in losses.
