(United States).- After a roughly 12 year wait, the Spokane Tribe Casino will officially open it's doors on Monday, January 8. The casino can be found just west of downtown Airway Heights, a couple minutes away from Northern Quest Resort and Casino.
After the Kalispel Tribe's success with Northern Quest, the Spokane Tribe first hatched the idea of their own casino back in 2006. Two years ago, Governor Jay Inslee signed off on the project.
The Spokane Tribe Casino will offer 450 slot machines, 12 table games, shops, restaurants and a lot of new jobs.
"We have 253 employees at the moment," explained Carol Evans, the Tribe's Chairwomen. "We plan on hiring an additional 47 for 300 to start out for phase 1A."
Evans claimed 44 percent of that 253 is Native American.
