YouTube Tightens Its Policies: Will Restrict Social Casino Gambling Videos to Users Over 18

(Madrid).- Starting November 17, YouTube will enforce new rules limiting access to videos featuring violent content or gambling. Creators must review and adjust their uploads before this date.
YouTube will implement a series of policy changes on violent content and gambling in November, aiming to increase platform safety and protect younger audiences.
According to Google, videos containing visual depictions of torture or mass violence, as well as content related to social casino games, will be restricted to users over 18 years old. These changes take effect on November 17, giving creators a deadline to modify affected content.
Regarding online gambling, YouTube will ban videos that direct users to websites or apps involving digital goods, such as in-game cosmetics or NFTs. Meanwhile, social casino content—games simulating gambling without real money—will also be restricted to adult audiences only.
In the video game category, the platform will limit content showing “realistic human characters” involved in torture or mass violence against civilians, making it accessible only to adults.
With these measures, YouTube aims to strengthen moderation policies and digital responsibility, taking a significant step in controlling sensitive content and preventing minors from accessing inappropriate material.
