(Madrid).- The Ibero-American Gaming Summit has chosen Bogotá as the venue for the 10th edition of this international event. COLJUEGOS, an entity belonging to the Colombian Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, will host this forum as the institutional host, which will be held on May 5 and 6 at the Bogota Marriott Hotel under the theme "Latam: A regulated market that drives opportunities."

Bogotá will host the next edition of the Ibero-American Gaming Summit

In Latin America, Colombia's casino and gaming industry is one of the most competitive and secure markets in the region. Thanks to its legislative support, domestic and foreign investors are increasingly investing in the country. The Colombian government is among the countries that have legislated online gaming in recent years to benefit users, open the market to the world of online betting, and become more competitive.

In fact, it has significant penetration; online gaming represents almost 47% of all gambling revenue in Colombia. According to data from the regulator Coljuegos, in the first half of 2025, transfers to the healthcare system from the sector reached COP 883.992 billion (> USD 225 million), representing a 26.9% increase compared to the first half of 2024.

The gaming industry has become a sector of solid growth and continues to enjoy positive economic prospects. The traditional and online markets are estimated to grow between 9 and 15% in 2025.

The growth of the Colombian gaming and betting sector is being driven by several key factors. First, increasing digitalization has strengthened the online channel, with a notable increase in the number of users and the adoption of online betting platforms, which has significantly boosted market growth rates. Furthermore, the regulation and formalization of the sector has advanced, thanks to the strengthening of the legal framework and increased oversight by Coljuegos. This has reduced informality and allowed an increasing percentage of the business to operate under official licenses, thus increasing the regulated market share.

Another important driver is the expansion of sports betting and games associated with sporting events, which have gained popularity among Colombians, especially on digital platforms, boosting online revenue. Finally, transfers to the healthcare system—which come from the sector's legal contributions—reached record levels in 2025, reflecting a higher volume of activity and more efficient collection.

This event has established itself as an important meeting forum for the sector globally, with the participation of most Ibero-American gaming regulators. This Summit was also conceived to address the need for a forum for debate that would allow for the exchange of knowledge and experiences with a view to boosting a key sector for the economies of the participating countries, strengthening existing ties.

The Ibero-American Gaming Summit, which returns to Colombia this year, has held 9 previous editions: Madrid (Spain) in 2014 and 2015, Mexico City (Mexico) in 2016, Cartagena de Indias (Colombia) in 2017, Medellín (Colombia) in 2018, Lima (Peru) in 2019, Panama City (Panama) in 2023, San Juan (Puerto Rico) in 2024 and the last one in Lima (Peru) in 2025.
