(Gumpoldskirchen).- The international gaming technology group earns top recognition for its massive photovoltaic system at its Gumpoldskirchen headquarters, setting a new benchmark for sustainability in the gaming industry.
NOVOMATIC has received the prestigious HERMES Climate Protection Award for the construction of its state-of-the-art photovoltaic system at its corporate headquarters. Spanning an impressive 20,000 m²—the size of three soccer fields—and equipped with over 4,600 solar panels, the installation first captured attention upon its inauguration in late 2024.
Generating approximately 2 million kilowatt-hours of clean electricity annually, the system allows NOVOMATIC to cover a significant share of its site’s energy needs with zero-emission power, translating to CO₂ savings of over 1,100 tons per year—the equivalent of offsetting more than 90,000 trees. The Gumpoldskirchen project is currently the largest among NOVOMATIC’s international photovoltaic installations across Germany, Italy, Spain, and Australia, earning praise from this year’s HERMES jury.
Mag. Stefan Krenn, CEO of NOVOMATIC AG, stated: “With the photovoltaic system at our headquarters, we have achieved a major milestone in our sustainability strategy and set a clear example for an environmentally responsible energy future. The HERMES Award represents meaningful recognition of our commitment to sustainability.”
The award was presented during the Gala of the Austrian Economy on October 10 at Vienna’s Hofburg Palace, where Christoph Neubauer, Director Group CR & Sustainability, and Florian Saiko, Director Group Finance, accepted the honor on behalf of NOVOMATIC.
The HERMES Climate Protection Award is an annual accolade recognizing Austrian companies that actively promote a climate-friendly future through innovative projects, demonstrating that climate protection and business success can go hand in hand.
