(Río de Janeiro, SoloAzar Exclusive).- “The SBC Summit is one of the most important events for the sector. The agenda for the first edition in Rio de Janeiro placed a potent focus on exploring opportunities in various Latin American countries. For sure, Brazil was the most discussed market due to the regulation of sports betting and naturally the industry's expectations for this new moment in the country,” commented Mateo Lenoble, Regional Sales Director LATAM at Sportradar, during an interview with SoloAzar with regard to the performance of the firm as Sponsor in the first edition of the tradeshow.

Sportradar analyzes the future of iGaming in Brazil and LATAM at the SBC Summit Rio

Why did you decide to exhibit/sponsor at the SBC Summit Rio 2024?

Sportradar, as a leading global sports technology company, is also present at all of relevant events to discuss the present and future of the industry.

The SBC Summit is one of the most important events for the sector. The agenda for the first edition in Rio de Janeiro placed a potent focus on exploring opportunities in various Latin American countries.

Sportradar is working hard in Latam to present our end-to-end solutions, so our executives were attending the SBC to contribute to all the pertinent discussions for our region.

What aspects of SBC Summit Rio did you find most relevant or attractive?

Our expectations were high and we were positively surprised. The SBC Rio had a great and qualified audience.

Therefore, several opportunities for connection and exchange between the main players in the sector. Additionally, I participated in a panel ‘AI Revolutionizing the Future of Betting Products?’ this session explored the future developments of technology, and how they are shaping the future of sports betting products. With the constant pressure amongst the next-gen of punters demanding instant wins, and fast-paced games, stakeholders have awakened to the benefits of tech in providing players with increased choices, interaction and a realistic feel.

What were the main products or services you presented at this first edition of SBC Summit Rio?

From a Sales perspective, the focus was on Managed Trading Services, Marketing Services such as ad:s, betting engagement tools, and ORAKO, the Company’s end-to-end sportsbook and player account management solution.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has come to the fore in 2023, with greater adoption of the technology across all industries and sectors, while the introduction of generative AI applications like ChatGPT and other services have taken the tech into the mainstream.

At Sportradar, we are continually evaluating how to harness new and emerging technologies to problem-solve for clients and drive business value. We understand that AI holds enormous potential across all of our products and services, but we’ve paid special attention to the development of our Computer Vision capabilities as a way to enhance our products with a greater volume of data and insight.

How are you adapting to the local Brazilian regulations?

The betting industry is constantly evolving, with changes in regulation creating new guidelines and opportunities for operators.

As a partner to hundreds of operators within the industry, we must be responsive to regulatory changes and help our clients engage with their clients in compliant ways. Latin America is currently a mix of regulated and unregulated markets. When you regulate the market, and we had this experience in Argentina and Colombia, local and international brands tend to strengthen and grow the market.

Regarding the region, Brazil is naturally the main market due to the size of the country and population, we have been working hard in Brazil in the last few years, and we were waiting, like the entire market, for sports betting to be regulated.

What is your vision for the future of iGaming in the Brazilian market and in Latin America?

Latin America is becoming an increasingly important region, due to the increase in levels of income, growth in access to the internet and the evolution of online gaming websites.

Gaming has a community of more than 250 million users in the region and large growth is expected in the coming years. Brazil is a dynamic market and will become even bigger after the regulation. Soccer is the most popular sport in Brazil and with regulation for sports betting, demand for soccer content in the region is likely to increase. According to research from Folha, Brazilian spending on online gaming and betting reached around US$11B in 2023.

Brazil has been a strategic focus for us and we have partnered with main leagues like CONMEBOL and CBF, while serving many clients who operate in the country. Sportradar is well positioned to address this emerging market with our industry-leading portfolio of products and solutions: Integrity, Managed Trading Services, ORAKO platform, Marketing Services (ad:s) and AV.

What are the next tradeshows you are planning to attend?

We’ll be attending SiGMA Americas in São Paulo, Peru Gaming Show, G2E in the US, plus events in the US, Europe and APAC throughout the year.
