(Malta, SoloAzar Exclusive).- Simon Westbury, Chief Business officer at Digitain, was interviewed by SoloAzar about the firm´s participation at SIGMA show, which concludes today in Malta. "We were honoured and delighted to receive recognition from the Europe Gaming Awards as Digitain was the recipient of the Online Sportsbook Supplier 2021," he said.

´We had a record number of visitors for SIGMA show´

How has been your experience at SIGMA show?
We were very much looking forward to the Sigma Europe expo, with a great new stand design and an enthusiastic sales team ready to meet customers old and new. I have to say we were not disappointed. The show has been excellent with lots of visitors and some excellent organised discussions on a great many of key industry topics.

In-person events, such as SiGMA, offer more opportunities for personal connections, networking and learning what’s new in the industry. Our experiences for the live shows so far this year as that more visitors come to buy – feels like a fresh start for the industry.

We’ve had great success at SiGMA in terms of our main products and services we promoted including our award-winning sportsbook platform, some great new sports betting promotional tools that operators were very positive and, obviously, our free-to-integrate Fast Games portfolio.

Have you participated in any of the conferences held within the event?
Unfortunately, I was too busy at our stand to participate in any of the discussions. We had a record number of visitors for this show, which demonstrates how things are improving, despite some travel challenges – and this meant that my sales team and I were kept on our toes.

In your opinion, what have been the highlights of the event?
Two things spring to mind. Firstly, the overall preparation and delivery of the show was first class. Very professionally run and an excellent experience for visitors, in terms of range and quality of the stands and the wide and interesting agenda for the daily presentations.

Secondly, we were honoured and delighted to receive recognition from the Europe Gaming Awards as Digitain was the recipient of the Online Sportsbook Supplier 2021. This was a great award to get – as our sportsbook is definitely our hero product and it was great that our enthusiastic and skilled teams behind the sportsbook get the recognition they deserve. Well done people!

How do you see the European gaming market and what are the expectations for the near future?
European gaming market will continue to be ultra-competitive for operators in general, with high costs of acquisition and retention. Responsible gaming legislation, as it continues to roll-out across the continent, will add to much needed customer protections, and also add significantly to the costs of doing business.

From a supplier perspective, there will be a need to ensure high quality, flexibility and great service to partners in order to protect and grow the business in such a competitive landscape.

2022 will be challenging economically, as interest rates rise and there will be more competition for the leisure pound or euro, so as a result there may more than the usual amount of mergers and acquisitions in our industry, as companies look to be more efficient.

What are your plans and future developments?
We have a number of key product launches in the early part of the new year, which I’m very excited about but unfortunately can’t say much about at this time.

Needless to say, these new and improved products and services will add significantly to our already award-winning platform and portfolio. Watch out for some interesting announcements in January ahead of ICE 2022.
