(Croatia).- Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković has submitted to Parliament a draft decree to reform the country's Gambling Law with a "strict code on gambling advertising."

Croatian Prime Minister pledges to make gambling more responsible

The draft decree "would prohibit the display of advertisements in outdoor public spaces and in print media." In addition to cracking down on advertising, the decree will aim to better protect minors, promote responsible gambling, introduce self-exclusion and require stricter compliance.

Plenković said: “Gaming has spread significantly across the digital space and we must consider its impact on young generations, which is detrimental. "We need to influence the reduction of gambling addiction and regulate this activity much better."

There are also plans for "the register of self-excluded players to be established and maintained by the Croatian Institute of Public Health (HZJZ)", which "should be established before 2026".

Primorac added: “The changes aim to limit the mechanisms for organizing responsible gaming, its availability and the encouragement of participation. This will also lead to a reduction in addiction and its negative consequences, both for the individual and for society as a whole.”
