(London).- Esports is impossible for the igaming industry to ignore. That is the broad conclusion of the Esports Betting report, published by ICE365.com, the platform created through Clarion Gaming's £1m digital technology investment. Recent events, such as Entain agreeing to acquire esports operator Unikrn, show the vertical is firmly in the industry's sights.

Latest ICE365 market report charts the phenomenal rise of esports betting

The report's 'World At A Glance' infographic highlights the sector's exponential growth. Global viewership is predicted to surge from 495 million people to 646 million by 2023; revenue will jump from $7.7bn in 2017 to $18.5bn by 2026.

Esports betting revenue is predicted to surge from $9bn in 2019, to an estimated $13bn for 2020 – a 44.4% year-on-year increase.

The latest report from the team at ICE365 provides detailed region-by-region insight and analysis covering the key growth territories of the United States, Asia, India, Europe and Latin America.

William Harding, head of esports at Clarion Gaming, said: "Compared to traditional sports, the growth of esports has been astronomic, but as with any significant, technology-driven sector, regulation has largely failed to keep pace.

"This has created a patchwork of different regulatory models, while some continents lag behind others as they lack the necessary infrastructure to support competitive gaming events. But as this wonderful sector continues its exponential growth, it is becoming increasingly ingrained in popular culture – and gambling operators are taking note. With this report, ICE365 aims to provide the industry with the intelligence necessary to spot opportunities as they emerge."

The Esports Betting Report 2021 is sponsored by Bayes Esports Solutions. Based on the worldwide, best-performing esports data platform, Bayes Esports offers full-service support to engage partners and customers guaranteeing a fair distribution of official esports data. The company holds exclusive partnerships with Riot and the ESL.

Bayes Esports Solutions CEO Martin Dachselt commented: "We are tremendously happy to be involved with the Esports Betting report.

"With Clarion Gaming, we have learned that together we can achieve so much more. Our vision is to introduce standards to an industry where there are few and push to tie in the ecosystem as much as possible by enabling esports betting-specific insights."
