(Las Vegas).- Conventions will now be included in Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak’s emergency directive that allows for large events to be mask-free if attendees are fully vaccinated. }
“This policy expansion gives an option for convention organizers to choose between requiring masks indoors for all attendees, regardless of vaccination status, or ensuring that all attendees are vaccinated, in which case fully-vaccinated attendees can remove their masks,” Meghin Delaney, communications director for the Governor’s office, wrote in the press statement.
Masks are not required for fully vaccinated attendees at conferences in counties with “substantial” or “high” transmission rates if the convention has 4,000 or more attendees.
Other factors will include if the convention requires pre-registration and if there's a system in place to check vaccination status.
In August, Sisolak announced that event organizers do not need to require their attendees to wear masks if all the guests are fully vaccinated. During his press conference, Sisolak said that the directive allows for event organizers to have options, and to give them a chance to lead.
