Bolsonaro signs the decree that privatizes sports betting in Brazil

(Brazil).- The Brazilian government took an important step this Wednesday in relation to the regulation of sports betting, since its president, Jair Bolsonaro, signed a decree (10.467) by which the fixed betting business will be offered by the private sector. The National Development Bank (BNDES) will be responsible for execution and the Ministry of Economy will be in charge of coordination and monitoring.
Sports betting will be included in the Privatization and Investments Program (PPI), which means it will be exploited by the private sector.
The decree specifies that the Ministry of Economy will be in charge of coordinating and monitoring the privatization process, for which it will prepare the studies and execution of the bidding process for the concession.
The execution and monitoring of the privatization process will be in charge of the BNDES, which must report progress to the Council of the Investment Alliances Program of the Presidency of the Republic and other organizations.
