(Colombia).- Professional games of chance associations, Fecoljuegos, Asojuegos and Cornazar, have joined forces and are willing to reach the court, if necessary, demanding Coljuegos to apply the new operating fee approved by the industry last June.
“In this sense, the three strongest associations related to the games of chance sector in Colombia have released yesterday a press release in which they demand the new operating fee to be active as soon as possible, due to the modification of the National Development Plan 2018-2022 Pact for Colombia - Pacto for the Equity "towards the fee of the Operating Fees that casino and bingo licensees should pay.”
And they add: “We have joined efforts in order to demand and achieve, as soon as possible, the application of the named norm.” In this sense, Fecoljuegos, Asojuegos and Cornazar demand the Colombian regulator to apply, for the month of June, the fee named on Article 59 of the National Development Plan, sanctioned last May 25, 2019.
They consider that Coljuegos (the entity that administrates games of chance in the country) position of excluding slots of that exemption is “inappropriate”. Although they recommend businessmen to continue paying the operating fee in order not to have problems.
However, they assure that “as a sector, the associations are together and will start legal actions in order to defend the rights of our companies.” In fact, each organization is organizing assemblies and meetings to face the problem and talk about the strategies to develop.
