(Monterrey).- Recognizing that Nuevo León's casinos operate outside the law, local legislators demanded that the municipalities and the State Government sanction those who do not comply with the regulations.
The coordinator of the Movimiento Ciudadano bench, Eduardo Gaona, accepted that there are betting houses that work illegally and pointed out that it is also the responsibility of the municipalities to coordinate with the State to sanction them.
"The call we make is that the municipalities also bear responsibility, that they coordinate with the State and that they visit the casinos so that they comply with the law," he said.
The legislator of the Green Ecologist Party, Raúl Lozano, spoke in the same vein, urging casino owners not to take cover to avoid paying taxes or complying with the law.
“On the one hand, they are protected by not having a land use, they are protected by the issue of smoking, because with this the casinos attract much more clientele.
“We see that they are looking for an excuse such as this exemption agreement to avoid paying taxes, the casino tax represents a lot of income for the security issue in the state, which is one of the great problems and great challenges, we urge all casinos to that they comply with their powers and that they act within the framework of the law,” he said.
Carlos de la Fuente, leader of the PAN faction, pointed out that the state Treasury should not have established an exemption for not paying rights for slot machines that report out of service.
"I am surprised, I was not aware that the Treasury was not collecting the fees," said de la Fuente, "in the 2023 budget, 20 percent of what is collected has to go to the municipalities and more in this very complicated year in which participation issue.
