(Riga).- The Inspectorate for the Supervision of Lotteries and Gambling would be appointed the supervising authority, according to amendments to the Law on Advertising submitted by the Ministry of Finance.
The Ministry states that the amendments to the law on advertising plan to restrict illegal gambling advertisements will protect the public interest by reducing the harmful effects of gambling and lotteries, ensuring a controlled, legal, socially responsible, and non-addictive environment for gambling and lotteries.
The amendments to the Law on Advertising will establish a responsible authority to monitor the advertising market for gambling and lotteries, ensuring timely and professional action to prevent the dissemination of gambling and lottery advertising in the public space.
The current version of the Law on Gambling and Lotteries does not regulate the supervision of advertising in the field of gambling and lotteries.
