(Ohio).- Minimum Deposit Casinos (MDC) releases an in-depth report on House Bill 298, exploring its implications for Ohio’s evolving online gaming market.

Minimum Deposit Casinos explores Ohio’s online gambling legislation

Minimum Deposit Casinos (MDC), a global iGaming review hub and division of the OneTwenty Group, has released a report examining the impact of House Bill 298, a proposed law that could reshape Ohio’s online gambling landscape

Introduced by Rep. Jay Edwards, the bill aims to legalize online casino gambling but restricts licenses to land-based casinos and racino operators. Additionally, it seeks to ban sweepstakes-style online gaming, a model that has thrived in states where traditional online casinos remain illegal.

Impact on the U.S. Gambling Market

According to a senior analyst at MDC, Ohio’s move reflects a broader national trend. More states are eliminating unregulated sweepstakes platforms in favor of licensed, taxed, and consumer-protected online casinos.

If passed, Ohio would join states like Montana, Louisiana, and New York in targeting dual-currency sweepstakes sites, which operate in legal grey areas by offering virtual currencies exchangeable for real cash prizes.

MDC’s Market Analysis and Industry Outlook

MDC’s report highlights potential shifts in affiliate marketing models, player migration to regulated platforms, and increased scrutiny across the U.S. gambling ecosystem.
