(Indiana).- Indiana streamlines regulations, eliminating licensing mandates for sports gambling industry players. Starting July 1, hundreds of companies tied to the sports gambling industry in Indiana will no longer need to be licensed with the state.
The Indiana Gaming Commission implemented this change following executive orders from Governor Mike Braun, aimed at reducing regulatory burdens.
Industries Affected by the Policy Shift
Previously, sports wagering registrants—companies providing goods or services related to sports gambling but not directly involved in betting—were required to hold a state license.
Businesses such as payment processing firms and marketing agencies will now be exempt from registration, as officials deem them low-risk and already regulated by other state and federal laws.
Financial Implications of the Licensing Removal
The elimination of licensing also removes the annual fee these companies paid to the state, which averaged $60,000 per year over the last five years.
