New regulations in Brazil allow safe access to gambling apps

(Brasilia).- In accordance with the new regulations for the betting market in Brazil, the Google Play Store and the Apple Store have announced that they will make bookmaker apps available for download in their shops from 1 January 2025.
Google Play Store and Apple Store have been authorised by the Ministry of Finance to operate in the country to be available to download from 1 January 2025.
Executives and experts in the sector approve of the measure, as the betting apps will bring easier access and security to users. In addition to the new system, companies in the sector will have to include user identity verification and facial recognition technology.
Bernardo Cavalcanti Freire, founding partner of BetLaw and legal advisor to the National Association of Games and Lotteries (ANJL) commented: “These will be important mechanisms to ensure responsible gambling, including facial recognition”.
For users, accessing bookmakers will be a safer and simpler task, since by downloading an application directly from an official shop, the punter knows they are accessing a regulated platform. In addition, customers will have the security of protecting their personal and financial data.
It's worth remembering that Google has already announced that it will only allow adverts and publicity on its bookmaker platforms that are licensed by the Ministry of Finance.
