(New York).- A new legislative proposal in the Empire State aims to reinforce transparency and responsible gaming standards by requiring licensed online sports betting operators to provide customers with detailed monthly activity statements.

New York Bill Seeks Mandatory Monthly Sports Betting Statements to Strengthen Transparency

Introduced by Assembly Member Rebecca Kassay (D-4), bill A10329 would mandate that operators electronically deliver comprehensive financial summaries to registered users within 15 days after the close of each calendar month. The measure is currently under review in the Assembly Racing and Wagering Committee.

Elevating Financial Clarity for Bettors

The proposed legislation sets out a standardized framework for reporting, ensuring that players receive a clear and consolidated overview of their wagering activity. Under the bill, each licensed operator would be required to provide details including:

  • Total monthly deposits
  • Total amount wagered
  • Total winnings and losses
  • Net gain or loss
  • Total number of bets placed
  • Total time logged into the platform
  • Itemized promotional credits, bonuses, or free bets used
  • Access to lifetime wagering history
  • Prominent disclosure of responsible gaming resources, including voluntary self-exclusion programs

In addition, the New York State Gaming Commission would be empowered to establish standardized formatting and clarity requirements, as well as mandate any additional disclosures necessary to ensure the statements are easily understandable.

The initiative underscores New York’s ongoing commitment to consumer protection within one of the most robust regulated sports betting markets in the United States.

Formalizing Existing Industry Practices

Much of the information outlined in the bill is already accessible through major operators’ platforms, including DraftKings and FanDuel. However, the legislation would shift the responsibility from players actively seeking out their data to operators proactively delivering standardized monthly reports.

By institutionalizing this practice, the measure would create uniformity across all nine licensed sportsbooks in the state, further strengthening regulatory oversight and enhancing player awareness.

If approved by lawmakers and signed by Governor Kathy Hochul, the law would take effect on January 1, 2027, positioning New York once again at the forefront of responsible gaming innovation in the U.S. market.
