(Gumpoldskirchen/Reykjavik/Barcelona).- The advanced casino management system is now live across 19 venues, enhancing operational efficiency, responsible gaming, and digital player services.
NOVOMATIC has successfully implemented its flagship casino management system, NOVOVISION™, at the University of Iceland Lottery (Happdrætti Háskóla Íslands – UIL), following an international public tender process. The system is now fully operational across all 19 UIL venues nationwide, marking a major technological upgrade for Iceland’s oldest lottery organization.
Founded in 1933, the University of Iceland Lottery plays a key role in financing university infrastructure, research equipment, and academic development. UIL is licensed to operate three types of gaming products in Iceland: its traditional class lottery, instant scratch cards, and approximately 500 gaming terminals located in 19 venues across the country. Lottery games are widely popular in Iceland and are commonly used to support community and educational initiatives.

As part of its commitment to responsible gaming and operational modernization, UIL selected NOVOMATIC’s NOVOVISION™ as its new casino management system. The decision followed a competitive international tender process in which NOVOMATIC emerged as the preferred technology partner. In its first implementation phase, NOVOVISION™ delivers a comprehensive suite of functionalities, including slots accounting, Ticket-in/Ticket-out (TiTo), anti-money laundering (AML) tools, Business Intelligence capabilities, and the NV smart Staff App. The system also provides the necessary IT infrastructure for all UIL venues, with additional features planned for future phases.
The system rollout was completed on schedule while maintaining ongoing gaming operations, ensuring minimal disruption for players. One of the key benefits of the new platform is its high level of system integration, which now allows UIL customers to redeem winning tickets online via the UIL Players’ App and transfer funds directly to their bank accounts.
Fabian Schnötzinger, Market Coordination NBS at NOVOMATIC, commented: “This was a very special project that delivered immediate improvements to ongoing operations. Working closely with the UIL team to understand their requirements and implement the integration was a highly positive experience. NOVOVISION™ is already creating significant value in multiple areas, and the professionalism and commitment of the UIL team were crucial to the project’s success. We look forward to continuing our collaboration in the next phases of implementation.”
Bryndís Hrafnkelsdóttir, CEO of the University of Iceland Lottery, added: “We are pleased to announce our collaboration with NOVOMATIC on this important project. Gaming terminals are a significant part of our business, and this new technology provides us with better access to data, helping us manage our operations responsibly while enhancing the player experience.”
She further stated: “The integration of NOVOVISION has progressed smoothly thanks to strong planning and cooperation between both teams. The platform’s advanced features will support data-driven decision-making while reinforcing our commitment to responsible gaming. As we move forward, we see opportunities to expand our services, including the future introduction of electronic player cards. With NOVOVISION™, we are well positioned to meet evolving customer needs while maintaining our focus on safe and responsible gaming.”
