(Netherlands).- The Netherlands Gambling Authority (Ksa) has imposed a penalty payment order on three gambling influencers. These are the influencers Stiefunspeelt, Turcos, and Buurtwachtt. The imposition of these penalty payments follows previously announced steps by the Ksa to take stricter action against influencers. Because influencers often appeal to a primarily young and therefore vulnerable target group, it is crucial to combat this content.

The Netherlands Gambling Authority (Ksa) again cracks down on gambling influencers

The influencers Stiefunspeelt, Turcos, and Buurtwachtt posted videos on their social media platforms depicting gambling with illegal providers. They also actively promoted gambling by encouraging their followers to also gamble with these illegal providers. The Ksa has previously explicitly reminded all three influencers that making videos promoting illegal gambling is prohibited.

Therefore, the Ksa is imposing a penalty payment order on all three influencers. This obligates them to remove existing content within 48 hours and prohibits any new advertising for illegal providers. If this does occur, the influencer who violates the law will receive a fine of €25,000 per violation, with a maximum of €75,000.

The Ksa will continue to closely monitor these types of violations and emphasizes that young people must be protected from this type of content about illegal gambling. If influencers fail to respond to requests to remove content, the tech platforms will also be involved to remove the content as quickly as possible.
