(Brasilia).- The Minister of Tourism, Celso Sabino, has contacted senators in recent weeks asking for support for the approval of the bill authorising the operation of casinos, gambling and other forms of games of chance.
The proposal provides for the creation of casino resorts. The facilities will only be authorised to operate if they have hotels, shopping malls, halls for social events and restaurants.
This legislation has been under consideration in Congress for over 30 years, receiving approval from the House in 2022 and subsequently from the Senate's CCJ (Constitution and Justice Committee) on the 19th. The next step is to bring it to the plenary session.
Sabino has actively met with Senator Davi Alcolumbre (União Brasil-AP), who chairs the CCJ and wields influence among lawmakers. Additionally, he has engaged with senators from key parties such as PSD, MDB, and PDT to secure their support.
Members of the ministry remain optimistic that the bill's approval could lead to substantial investments in the country, providing a significant boost to the tourism industry.
