(Raleigh, NC). - The North Carolina State Lottery Commission today approved eight licenses ahead of the launch on March 11.

“Issuing the first interactive sports wagering operator licenses today represents a major milestone in establishing legal sports betting in North Carolina,” said Ripley Rand, chair of the North Carolina State Lottery Commission. “North Carolinians can begin signing up for accounts on their mobile devices on Friday with the confidence they will soon be able to make wagers on their favorite sporting events securely and responsibly. We’re just 11 days away from the start of sports betting in North Carolina and we will be working every day between now and then to see that our launch is a successful one.”
Legal sports betting will be for those at least 21 years old who have established accounts with a licensed operator. They can use a computer, phone, or other electronic device to place wagers as of noon on March 11th.
The Lottery Commission says you can set up accounts starting Friday at noon with the companies.
More licenses are expected to be approved soon, according to the commission.
The companies are Betfair Interactive US, LLC (FanDuel Sportsbook), BETMGM, LLC, Crown NC Gaming, LLC (DraftKings), FBG Enterprises Opco, LLC (Fanatics Sportsbook), Hillside, LLC (bet365), Penn Sports Interactive, LLC (ESPN BET), Underdog Sports Wagering LLC, and Tribal Casino Gaming Enterprise, an enterprise of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.
